About Dan

Dan Oved is a Brooklyn based artist and engineer whose work is a collaboration between human and machine intelligence. He open-sourced PoseNet and BodyPix, machine learning models for perceiving the human form from images and video. His work crosses multiple disciplines, from installation to performance to device, and explores themes of algorithmic decision making, real-time sensing machines, and the conflicting objectives between computers and the humans that created them.

He is a resident researcher at and graduate of ITP in NYU and works as a Research Engineer at the New York Times, investigating ways that computer vision techniques can reveal information for journalism. In the past he has worked with the Google Creative Lab, and SYPartners.
